The San Diego Gulls announced today that the American Hockey League club has signed defenseman Jeff Schultz to a one-year contract through the 2017-18 AHL season.
Schultz, 31, recorded 15 assists and a plus-6 rating in 65 games with the Gulls last season. He added one assist in 10 postseason contests.
Entering his 12th pro season in 2017-18, Schultz has appeared in 409 games in the NHL with Washington and Los Angeles, and helped the Kings to a Stanley Cup title in 2014.
In the AHL, Schultz has skated in 295 games with Hershey, Manchester, Ontario and San Diego, totaling 10 goals, 64 assists and a plus-71 rating. He won the Calder Cup with Hershey in 2006, and again with Manchester in 2015.
Schultz was originally a first-round draft pick by Washington in 2004.
