The Albany River Rats are proud to announce that their National Hockey League affiliate, the Stanley Cup champion Carolina Hurricanes, have reached agreements with forwards Ryan Bayda and Brad Zancanaro.
Bayda, 25, scored 13 goals with 25 assists for 38 points in 59 games with the AHL’s Manitoba Moose during the 2005-06 campaign. He added seven points (1g, 6a) in 13 playoff games and has 145 points (45g, 100a) points in 229 career regular-season AHL contests.
The Saskatoon, Sask., native spent the first three seasons of his professional career with the Hurricanes organization after being selected by Carolina with their third choice (80th overall) in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.
He made his NHL debut with the Hurricanes during the 2002-03 season and has recorded 20 points (7g, 13a) in 69 NHL contests.
Zancanaro, 24, scored two goals in eight games with the Lowell Lock Monsters after earning Hockey East Best Defensive Forward honors at Boston University during the 2005-06 campaign. The Trenton, Mich., native recorded a plus-23 rating last season and totaled 90 points (34g, 56a) in 161 games, the second most in Terriers history.
Zancanaro was also named a finalist for the Walter Brown Award, given to the best American-born player in New England.
