Linglet named CCM Vector/AHL Player of the Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. … The American Hockey League announced today that Peoria Rivermen left wing Charles Linglet has been named the CCM Vector/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending December 3, 2006.

Linglet tallied four goals and six points in three games on the week while posting a plus-4 rating as Peoria went a perfect 3-0-0-0 and extended its winning streak to five games.

Linglet kicked off the weekend’s action by recording a goal in Peoria’s 5-3 win over Iowa on Friday night, and added a pair of goals, including the game-winner, in Saturday’s 3-1 win over the Stars in the back end of the home-and-home series. Playing his third game in as many days, Linglet scored another goal and added two assists for three points in Peoria’s 4-1 win over Houston on Sunday evening.

In recognition of his achievement, Linglet will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Rivermen home game.

The 24-year-old Montreal native leads the Rivermen with 12 goals and ranks second on the team with 18 points in 19 games this season, including 11 points in his last seven tilts. He is also tied for second on the club with a plus-5 rating for the year. A former 52-goal scorer in junior at Baie-Comeau (QMJHL), Linglet now has 26 goals and 13 assists for 39 points in 64 career AHL games.

Other nominees for CCM Vector/AHL Player of the Week include Albany center Ben Guite, Bridgeport center Jeremy Colliton, Chicago left wing Jordan LaVallee, Grand Rapids goaltender Jimmy Howard, Hartford goaltender Stephen Valiquette, Hershey right wing Eric Fehr, Houston center Bryan Lundbohm, Manchester right wing John Zeiler, Manitoba forward Brad Moran, Milwaukee center Rich Peverley, Omaha goaltender Curtis McElhinney, Providence center David Krejci, Syracuse left wing Joe Motzko, Toronto goaltender Jean-Francois Racine, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton left wing Daniel Carcillo and Worcester right wing Riley Armstrong.
