MacLean returning to Hershey

The Hershey Bears announced today that right wing Cail MacLean and center Greg Barber have signed American Hockey League contracts for the upcoming 2004-05 season. The announcement was made today by Bears President/GM Doug Yingst.

MacLean returns to Hershey, where he played in 95 regular-season and 11 playoff games for the Bears from 2001-03. The highlight of his first tour of duty in Hershey was scoring the first goal in Giant Center history on Oct. 19, 2002, against the Rochester Americans. MacLean was also named Hershey’s unsung hero for the 2002-03 season.

He signed an NHL contract with the New York Islanders before the start of 2003-04 and played in 61 games for the AHL’s Bridgeport Sound Tigers last season, recording six goals and 10 assists. MacLean has skated in 193 career AHL games over parts of six seasons with Bridgeport, Hershey, Lowell, Hartford, Providence, Philadelphia and Cincinnati, totaling 27 goals and 33 assists for 60 points.

Barber comes to training camp after an All-Rookie season with San Diego of the ECHL in 2003-04. He finished 10th in the league in scoring with 76 points (30 goals, 46 assists) in 71 games during his first season out of the University of Denver.
