Markison returns to the Sound Tigers

The Bridgeport Sound Tigers have announced that forward Colin Markison has agreed to terms on a one-year, American Hockey League contract for the 2016-17 season.

Markison, 24, spent the majority of last season with the Sound Tigers, recording 11 points (three goals, eight assists) and a plus-6 rating in 39 games. He also notched 17 points (10 goals, seven assists) and a plus-18 rating in 24 games with the ECHL’s Missouri Mavericks.

A native of Princeton, New Jersey, Markison debuted with Bridgeport on April 4, 2015 and registered one goal in six games with the Sound Tigers in 2014-15. Prior to turning pro, he played four seasons at the University of Vermont from 2010-14, posting 52 points (23 goals, 29 assists) in 127 career games. He ranked fourth on the team in scoring as a senior with career-highs in goals (9), assists (16), and points (25). The 5’10, 185-pound forward also played two seasons with the Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League (USHL) prior to attending Vermont.
