MassMutual Center ready for business

After two seasons of continued renovations, the Springfield Falcons, their fans and MassMutual are all excited about the arrival of the newly renovated MassMutual Center. Featured with a new video scoreboard, exclusive club seating, a state-of-the-art sound system, new seats and refurbished locker room facilities, the MassMutual Center is certain to be the crown jewel of Western Massachusetts.

The Falcons will open their new “Nest” on Friday, September 30, when they host the Providence Bruins in preseason action. The Falcons will play their first regular-season game on Saturday, October 8, when they begin their 12th American Hockey League season and it will be an opening night that is greeted with much anticipation.

“We truly appreciate the patience shown by our fans during the renovation process,” said Falcons president and general manager Bruce Landon. “We can now reward them with the MassMutual Center, a facility that features state-of-the-art technology and features.”

One new feature in which fans will notice right away is the new center-hung scoreboard, which will feature a four-sided video screen for fans to enjoy.

“Fans will notice the scoreboard right away, we are really excited to have a scoreboard that features the video board because it will add to the fan experience,” said Landon. “It gives us some new ways to provide entertainment to our customers.”

A second amenity the Falcons are excited about are the new club seats, which provide local corporate partners an opportunity to enjoy Falcons hockey in a prime seat location. Club seat holders will also have access to an exclusive club lounge they can call their own. As a club seat holder, Falcons supporters can enjoy expanded food selections of upscale cuisine and enjoy such amenities as padded seats and cup holders. Seat holders at the club level also have the opportunity to purchase tickets to select MassMutual Center events.

“The Club Seats allow us to provide our sponsors with another option for them to enjoy,” said Landon.

One renovated area of the MassMutual Center that fans will not be able to witness is the new locker rooms for both the Falcons and their opponents. Springfield hockey players will now have the luxuries of a spacious locker room fully equipped with quality medical equipment and enough space to make equipment managers jumping for joy.

“Our training staff and coaches are thrilled with the new features of the locker room areas,” said Landon. “It’s been a long time coming, but we are very proud to call the MassMutual Center our home and we look forward to creating some long lasting memories.”

The patience and hard work of many individuals is about to come to fruition in a few short weeks. Having a renovated facility located in the heart of downtown Springfield is something that fans throughout the Pioneer Valley have been striving to have for a long time. The future is now and starting September 30, hockey fans will have to wait no longer.
