Dov Grumet-Morris earned his fourth shutout of the season by making 34 saves and Lee Goren and Jason Jaffray scored power-play goals in the third period as Manitoba captured the Sam Pollock Trophy and the North Division championship with a 2-0 win over Peoria at Carver Arena on Saturday night.
It is the first division title in franchise history for the Moose, who also hit the 100-point mark.
In his third start for Manitoba, Grumet-Morris earned his second shutout, and now owns a 2-0-1 record with a 0.32 goals-against average and .991 save percentage with the Moose, stopping 105 of 106 shots.
Jaffray finished with a goal and an assist and Alex Edler recorded two assists as Manitoba ended its seven-game road trip with a 3-3-0-1 mark.
The loss by the Rivermen means both Milwaukee and Hamilton have clinched Calder Cup playoff berths as well.
ALBANY 3, BRIDGEPORT 2 (SO)
Brett Carson scored in the fifth round of a shootout to lift Albany to a 3-2 win over Bridgeport at the Times Union Center.
The win moves the River Rats to 36-34-3-3 and 78 points, one point ahead of the Sound Tigers in sole possession of fourth place in the East Division.
Cody McLeod and Shane Willis each provided goals in regulation for Albany and Keith Aucoin and Jakub Petruzalek also tallied in the shootout.
Making his 16th consecutive appearance for the River Rats, Tyler Weiman stopped 29 of 31 shots and three of four Sound Tigers in the shootout to earn his 26th win of the year.
Trevor Smith scored his first professional goal for Bridgeport and Billy Thompson made 33 saves.
WILKES-BARRE/SCRANTON 3, PHILADELPHIA 2
Robert Nilsson tallied a pair of goals to lead the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins to a 3-2 win over the visiting Philadelphia Phantoms.
The Penguins become the first team to earn 50 wins this season, and they now sit alone in second place in the East Division, two points behind in-state rival Hershey (108).
Jeff Drouin-Deslauriers made 25 saves on 27 shots to earn his fourth consecutive win.
Kurtis McLean added the other goal for the Pens, and Ryan Stone recorded two assists in the win.
Kyle Greentree and John Slaney scored in the loss for Philly. Slaney has scored in six of his last seven games, recording five goals and seven points.
HERSHEY 6, NORFOLK 1
The Bears re-affirmed their spot a top the East Division with a 6-1 win over rival Norfolk at the Giant Center.
Hershey improved its mark to 48-16-6-6 and 108 points to remain two points in front of Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (106) and four up on the Admirals (104).
Joey Tenute led the way with two goals and an assist for the Bears, who snapped a four-game losing skid to the Admirals.
Scott Barney had a goal and an assist and Chris Bourque had two assists for Hershey, hosts the Penguins on Sunday evening.
Kyle Wilson, Matt Hendricks and Deryk Engelland all provided goals in the win.
SPRINGFIELD 4, HARTFORD 3 (SO)
The Springfield Falcons tallied four consecutive goals in the shootout to edge the Hartford Wolf Pack by a score of 4-3 at the Hartford Civic Center.
Defenseman Justin Fletcher scored two goals and Jacob Micflikier provided one goal in regulation and one in the shootout to lift the Falcons to their second consecutive victory.
Jonathan Boutin backstopped Springfield with 46 saves to give the Falcons their third win against the Pack in the last four meetings.
Brandon Dubinsky scored twice in the loss for Hartford, and now has nine points (5g, 4a) in his last six games.
Despite earning the point for the shootout loss, the Wolf Pack were eliminated from contention for the Atlantic Division title, which has been won by Manchester for the second time in three years.
HAMILTON 1, TORONTO 0 (SO)
Yann Danis stopped 39 shots for his first shutout of the year as Hamilton outlasted Toronto, 1-0, in a shootout at Ricoh Coliseum on Saturday night.
Matt D’Agostini, Corey Locke and Kyle Chipchura all chipped in goals in the shootout for Hamilton. The Bulldogs snapped a three-game losing skid but have still failed to score more than one goal in any of their last four contests.
Toronto netminder Justin Pogge recorded his third shutout of the year by stopping 17 shots.
Hamilton’s win, combined with Peoria’s loss, allows the Bulldogs to clinch a berth in the 2007 Calder Cup Playoffs.
WORCESTER 7, BINGHAMTON 6 (OT)
Graham Mink capped off a four-point night by recording his second goal at 1:39 of the overtime period to give the Worcester Sharks a 7-6 win over the Binghamton Senators at Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena.
Mink also recorded two assists for the Sharks, who scored four goals in the third period. Garrett Stafford‘s second goal of the night came with 28 seconds remaining in regulation and forced overtime.
Torrey Mitchell also had three points (1g, 2a) as the Sharks won their fourth straight road game.
Making his 20th consecutive appearance, Thomas Greiss made 27 saves to earn his 25th win of the year.
Mathieu Darche recorded three assists and Scott Ferguson had a goal and an assist for Worcester, which is one point ahead of fourth-place Providence in the Atlantic Division.
Jean-Francois David registered a four-point night of his own, with two goals and two assists in the loss for the B-Sens.
LOWELL 4, PROVIDENCE 3 (OT)
Defenseman Dan McGillis played the hero for Lowell, scoring the game-winning goal on the power play in overtime to give the Devils a 4-3 victory over the visiting Providence Bruins at the Tsongas Arena.
Defenseman Mike Mottau recorded two assists and four different players (Stephen Gionta, Rod Pelley, Barry Tallackson and McGillis) scored for Lowell, which is now three points behind the Bruins for fourth place in the Atlantic.
Frank Doyle stopped 29 of 32 shots to earn his 20th win of the year for Lowell, which snapped a two-game skid.
Marco Rosa led the way with a goal and an assist in the loss for Providence.
IOWA 3, SAN ANTONIO 1
In their final regular-season game at home, Yared Hagos tallied twice on the power play to give the Iowa Stars a 3-1 win over the San Antonio Rampage at Wells Fargo Arena.
Chris Conner provided the other goal for the Stars and Scott May and Mark Ardelan each recorded two assists.
Dan Ellis needed just 16 saves to earn his 28th win of the year for Iowa, which is now four points ahead of fifth-place Peoria in the West Division.
Yanick Lehoux scored the lone goal for the Rampage in the loss.
HOUSTON 1, OMAHA 0
Tony Quesada earned his first win of the year by stopping all 41 shots as the Houston Aeros defeated Omaha 1-0 in overtime at the Civic Auditorium.
Defenseman Curtis Murphy tallied with 37 seconds remaining in overtime to help the Aeros end a three-game skid.
Jason Morgan and Mattias Weinhandl added assists on Murphy’s goal.
Curtis McElhinney stopped 18 of 19 shots in the loss for the Knights, who remain one point ahead of Chicago atop the West Division.
SYRACUSE 5, ROCHESTER 0
Syracuse netminder Dan LaCosta secured his fifth win and third shutout of the year by stopping all 25 shots in the Crunch’s 5-0 rout of the visiting Rochester Americans.
Olivier Labelle scored two goals and teammate Jeffrey Szwez had a goal and an assist for Syracuse, which has outscored its opponents 13-2 during its three-game winning streak.
Tim Konsorada and defenseman Ryan Caldwell also produced goals for the Crunch, who are still alive in the North Division playoff race. Syracuse is six points behind fourth-place Grand Rapids with three games remaining.
CHICAGO 5, GRAND RAPIDS 3
Jordan LaVallee and Mark Popovic each tallied a goal and an assist to lead the Chicago Wolves to a 5-3 win over the Grand Rapids Griffins at Allstate Arena.
With the win, Chicago is one point behind Omaha for the top spot in the West with a record of 44-24-3-6 and 97 points.
Guillaume Desbiens, Cory Larose and Colin Stuart all tallied in the win for Chicago, which has won three of its last four games at home.
Michael Garnett stopped 25 of 28 shots for Chicago.
Tony Voce, Ryan Oulahen and Jeff Campbell all scored in the loss for the Griffins.
MANCHESTER 6, PORTLAND 3
The Manchester Monarchs used four goals in the opening period to down the visiting Portland Pirates, 6-3, in an afternoon tilt at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Saturday.
Noah Clarke netted a pair of goals, while Petr Kanko and defenseman Jeff Likens recorded a goal and an assist each for the Monarchs, who extended their winning streak to four games.
The win, combined with Hartford’s shootout loss later in the night, gives the Monarchs their second Emile Francis Trophy as Atlantic Division champions in three seasons.
Jason LaBarbera earned his fifth straight win and 39th victory of the season by stopping 33 of 36 shots for Manchester, which has outscored its opponents 19-8 over the last four games.
Matt Ryan and Richard Petiot rounded out the scoring for the Monarchs, who will face off against the Pirates again on Tuesday at the Cumberland County Civic Center.
Defensemen Clay Wilson (1g, 1a) and Sean Blanchard (2a) recorded two points each for Portland.
