O’Sullivan hat trick leads Manchester in win

Patrick O’Sullivan recorded a hat trick and four points to lead Manchester to a 5-0 win at home against Toronto, helping the Monarchs improve to 3-0-2-1 in their last six games and move to within three points of the Atlantic Division lead.

O’Sullivan, who won the Dudley (Red) Garrett Memorial Award as the AHL’s outstanding rookie last season, has six points in his last three games and has scored in seven of nine games this season for a total of 11 points (5g, 6a).

Netminder Jason LaBarbera stopped all 46 shots from the Marlies for his first shutout of the season, while Noah Clarke, who has three goals and four points in his last two games, tallied the other two goals for the Monarchs.


NORFOLK 5, BINGHAMTON 4
Carl Corazzini’s hat trick and Martin St. Pierre’s second tally of the day capped Norfolk’s comeback as the Admirals scored three unanswered goals to defeat the Binghamton Senators, 5-4, at home.

St. Pierre, who leads the Admirals and ranks third in the league in scoring with 26 points, extended his 10-game scoring streak by scoring three points for Norfolk.

Corey Crawford, who came on in relief of Sebastien Caron, stopped all 16 shots faced in the second and third period.

Ryan Vesce had his first multi-goal game of the year for the Senators, while Jeff Heerema was involved in every Binghamton goal, registering four assists in the contest.


ALBANY 4, PHILADELPHIA 1
Four unanswered goals from the River Rats proved to be the difference as Albany defeated Philadelphia, 4-1, at Pepsi Arena.

Ryan Bayda, Kevin Estrada and Kyle Cumiskey tallied for Albany while center Keith Aucoin, who leads the team in scoring with 18 points, and Brad Isbister added two assists in the contest. Pat Dwyer capped the victory with an empty-net goal at 18:45 of the final period.

Albany netminder Justin Peters stopped 22 of 23 shots to earn his first win since Oct. 14.

Nolan Baumgartner scored the only Philadelphia goal.


CHICAGO 5, GRAND RAPIDS 3
Darren Haydar scored a goal and an assist and Jason Krog recorded an assist as both players extended their scoring streak to 16 games in the Wolves’ 5-3 home win over Grand Rapids.

Defenseman Troy Milam scored a goal and two assists in the victory and teammates Joey Crabb and Alex Bourret also tallied for Chicago.

Kip Miller, Evan McGrath and Matt Ellis scored the Griffins goals while goaltender Jimmy Howard turned away 39 shots in the loss.

Attendance at the Allstate Arena was 13,718.


BRIDGEPORT 4, HERSHEY 3 (OT)
Robert Nilsson had his second straight three-point night as he recorded two goals and an assist and Blake Comeau scored the game winner as the Sound Tigers defeated Hershey, 4-3 in overtime, at the Giant Center.

Steve Regier (1g, 1a) and defenseman Joel Bouchard (2 assists) each recorded two points for Bridgeport while goaltender Billy Thompson made 41 saves for his second consecutive win.

Eric Fehr extended his scoring streak to 12 games, registering a goal and an assist for the Bears while teammate Joey Tenute also tallied two points in the loss.


OMAHA 3, HOUSTON 0
Brent Krahn stopped 14 shots for his first shutout of the season as Omaha ended the Aeros’ winning streak with a 3-0 win at home.

David Moss, Eric Nystrom and defenseman Eric Godard all scored for Omaha, which now stands alone atop the West Division.

Making his first AHL start in net, Tony Quesada stopped 34 of 36 shots for Houston.


PEORIA 5, MILWAUKEE 4 (OT)
Charles Linglet and Trent Whitfield each had two goals, but it was rookie David Backes‘ goal that proved to be the difference in Peoria’s 5-4 overtime win against visiting Milwaukee.

Sheldon Brookbank and Rich Peverley each had a goal and an assist for the Admirals and third-period goals from Kelsey Wilson and Pat Leahy tied the contest at 4-4 for Milwaukee.

Marek Schwarz made 19 saves and Jon DiSalvatore and defenseman Tomas Mojzis recorded two assists for the Rivermen in the contest.


SAN ANTONIO 3, HARTFORD 1
Two goals from Yanick Lehoux, including the game-winner with 3:21 left in the third period, and an empty-net goal from Bill Thomas helped the Rampage to a 3-1 win at home over the Wolf Pack.

Josh Tordjman earned his first professional win, stopping 26 of 27 shots from Hartford.

Jarkko Immonen scored the lone Hartford goal.


PROVIDENCE 6, WORCESTER 5
Providence scored twice within the last five minutes of the third period to cap a 6-5 comeback win at Worcester.

Kris Versteeg had three points and scored game-winner with 53 seconds left in the final frame, while teammate David Krejci had two goals and an assist for the Bruins.

Krejci has now scored in nine of his last 10 games as Providence erased a 4-1 deficit to remain in a first-place tie with Portland in the Atlantic Division.

Mathieu Darche and rookie Joe Pavelski each had a goal and two assists on the night. Pavelski continued his hot streak for the Sharks, scoring in all but two games this season including 10 of his last 11 contests. Darche’s goal was his league-leading 15th of the year.


HAMILTON 3, IOWA 2
Three-straight goals from Hamilton were enough as the Bulldogs held on to defeat Iowa 3-2 at home.

Winners in six of their last eight games, Hamilton got goals from Dan Jancevski, Kyle Chipchura and Michael Lambert while goaltender Yann Danis made 24 saves in the Bulldogs win.

Krys Barch and Vojtech Polak each had a goal for the Stars.


LOWELL 5, PORTLAND 3
Justin Papineau tallied two goals for the Devils while Nicklas Bergfors, Rod Pelley and defenseman Dan McGillis each recorded two assists in a 5-3 win over Atlantic Division leader Portland at Cumberland County Civic Center.

Tim Brent and Zenon Konopka each tallied goals for the Pirates while Garett Bembridge’s goal at 14:26 of the second period tied the game at 3-3.

Jordan Parise had 29 saves and Dan LaCouture, Aaron Voros and Petr Vrana also scored for the Devils.


MANITOBA 1, SYRACUSE 0
Manitoba left wing Jason Jaffray scored the only goal of the game with 4.5 seconds left in regulation as the Moose defeated the Syracuse Crunch by a score of 1-0 at the Onondaga County War Memorial at Oncenter.

In just his second game with the Moose, Dany Sabourin, who won the 2005-06 Baz Bastien Award as the AHL’s outstanding goaltender, stopped all 27 shots he faced for his 11th career AHL shutout.

Ty Conklin stopped 34 of 35 shots in a losing effort for the Crunch.


ROCHESTER 8, SPRINGFIELD 0
Greg Jacina, Michael Ryan and Mark Mancari each had two goals and an assist in Rochester’s 8-0 win at home against Springfield.

Kamil Kreps also registered three points (1g, 2a), while defenseman Brandon Smith recorded four assists for the Americans, who own the league’s best record at 14-1-0-0 and are winners of their last seven games.

Adam Dennis stopped all 27 shots faced for his first professional shutout as the Amerks improved to 9-0-0-0 at home.
