Ottawa acquires Bergman from San Jose

The Ottawa Senators on Tuesday acquired defenseman Julius Bergman, forward Mikkel Boedker and a sixth-round draft choice in 2020 from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for Mike Hoffman, Cody Donaghey and a fifth-round choice in the 2020 NHL Draft.

Bergman, 22, was a second-round selection (46th overall) in the 2014 NHL Draft. He played 65 regular-season games in 2017-18 with the AHL’s San Jose Barracuda, recording 10 goals and 10 assists for 20 points before adding one assist in four postseason contests.

A native of Stockholm, Sweden, Bergman has appeared in 190 career AHL games, totaling 16 goals and 45 assists for 61 points.
