Brent currently sports a league-high 11 postseason goals, including the game-winner with 30.7 seconds left in the third period of Game 7 of the conference finals against Portland.

The 24-year-old native of Cambridge, Ont., is concluding his fourth professional season and first with the Penguins. He led the club in regular-season scoring this year with 61 points (18-43-61) in 74 games, and he is tied for the team lead with 20 points (11-9-20) in 17 playoff contests.

Brent’s dramatic goal in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals, which broke a 2-2 tie, came at the expense of his former team and sent the Penguins to the AHL’s championship series for the third time in the last eight years. They open the Calder Cup Finals on Thursday at Chicago and play Game 2 on Sunday.

Brent reached Game 7 of the conference finals in 2006 with Portland, falling in overtime to eventual-champion Hershey.

He has suited up for 16 career NHL games for Anaheim and Pittsburgh, and scored his first career NHL goal on Feb. 20, 2007, as a member of the Ducks.
