Phantoms double up Bears, 6-3

Philadelphia’s youth movement impressed on Monday afternoon, with training camp invitee Pete Zingone and rookie Denis Tolpeko each contributing a goal and an assist in a 6-3 Phantoms win over the Hershey Bears in Voorhees, N.J.

The win brought the Phantoms’ exhibition record to 2-0-1-0.

In addition to the scoring from Zingone and Tolpecko, Don Morrison scored the game’s first goal and Jussi Timonen contributed an assist. Between the pipes, training-camp invitee Jere Myllyniemi made 19 saves on 22 shots over the first two periods. Rejean Beauchemin, who retains rookie status in the AHL this season, stopped all 11 shots he faced in the third.

Stefan Ruzicka scored two goals, including an empty-netter, while Eric Meloche collected two assists. Matt Ellison had a goal, and four others had one assist apiece.

The host club went 4-for-9 on the power play, and held Hershey scoreless on seven PP attempts.
