Peoria received goals from four different players and held on for a 4-3 win over visiting Texas on Tuesday at Carver Arena.
Chris Porter’s unassisted goal at 13:50 of the third period stood up as the game-winner for the Rivermen, who also received tallies from Pascal Pelletier, rookie Brett Sonne, and Nicholas Drazenovic.
Defenseman Nate Guenin contributed two assists on the night, and Peoria goaltender Hannu Toivonen earned the victory with 29 saves on 32 shots.
With the victory, the Rivermen moved out of last place in the West Division and now sit 11 points back of Texas for the division’s fourth and final playoff spot.
Aaron Gagnon, Scott McCulloch, and defenseman Maxime Fortunus tallied goals for the Stars, and Perttu Lindgren had two assists.
Texas lost three straight contests to conclude its five-game road trip and is just 3-8-0-0 in its last 11 games overall.
