Executive vice president and general manager Doug Wilson announced Friday that the San Jose Sharks, parent club of the AHL’s Worcester Sharks, have signed forward Ben Guite to a one-year contract.
Guite finished second on the Springfield Falcons (AHL) in points (47) on 17 goals and 30 assists, and tied for first in plus/minus (plus-12) in 72 games last season. Guite, who was the team captain, also ranked fourth on the Falcons with 91 penalty minutes.
The right-handed forward has spent time with Boston, Colorado and Nashville, accumulating 45 points (19 goals and 26 assists) in 175 National Hockey League games. The 11-year professional has also posted 264 points (99 goals and 165 assists) in 559 AHL games with Cincinnati, Bridgeport, Providence, Albany, Milwaukee and Springfield.
The 6-foot-1, 200-pound native of Montreal was originally selected by Montreal in the seventh round (172nd overall) of the 1997 NHL Entry Draft.
