Tukonen, Monarchs spoil Boudreau’s return

For the third time in three days the Manchester Monarchs came from behind to beat their opponent, requiring more than regulation time in each game. Manchester was able to get it done in overtime as Lauri Tukonen netted his fourth goal of the season to lift the Monarchs over the Bears.

Rookie Jeff Tambellini had two goals and an assist to help propel Manchester to the victory. Eric Fehr had a goal and two assists in the losing effort for Hershey.

The Hershey loss spoiled return of head coach Bruce Boudreau to Verizon Wireless Arena, where he was the bench boss for the Monarchs since 2001-02, the inaugural season of the franchise.

Adam Hauser made 42 saves for Manchester, whicih was outshot 47-33 for the game.

Manchester moves into a second place tie with Hartford in the Atlantic Division. Despite the loss, Hershey is still has a firm hold over second place in the East Division, as they are seven points ahead of third place Bridgeport.

On Thursday, the Monarchs scored three times in the final 4:17 of regulation en route to a 6-5 win over Springfield. Friday, the Monarchs scored twice in the final 8:26 before beating Lowell in a shootout, 5-4.
