Stockton punches playoff ticket

The Stockton Heat claimed the final playoff spot in the Pacific Division on Friday night with a 2-1 win over Bakersfield at Stockton Arena.

The Heat will finish fourth in the Pacific and take on the San Jose Barracuda in the first round of the 2017 Calder Cup Playoffs. San Diego and Ontario will meet in the other Pacific Division semifinal; both series begin next Friday.

It is Stockton’s first trip to the postseason as members of the AHL, and the first playoff appearance for Calgary’s top affiliate since Abbotsford qualified for the 2014 postseason.
