Sweep dreams are made of this

Jason Pominville and Jason Botterill scored power play goals in the first period, providing Rochester with all the offense needed in a 3-1 win over Hamilton on Sunday evening.

With the win, the Amerks completed a four-game sweep of the North Division final and a berth in the Western Conference championship series, where they will face either Milwaukee or Chicago.

Botterill finished with a goal and an assist and Chris Taylor set up all three Rochester goals on the night. Domenic Pittis added two assists and finished with eight points in the series.

Ryan Miller made 27 saves as the Amerks posted their seventh consecutive victory. They outscored the Bulldogs 14-3, tying an AHL record for fewest goals allowed in a four-game playoff series. Rochester has outscored the opposition by a count of 43-20 in the postseason.

Pittis now has 59 career assists in Calder Cup Playoff action, tying him for third place on the all-time list with Amerks general manager Jody Gage.
