A fifth-round draft pick by the Dallas Stars in 2007, Benn spent his entire rookie regular season in the National Hockey League with Dallas this year before joining Texas for the Calder Cup Playoffs.

The native of Victoria, B.C., contributed 22 goals and 19 assists while appearing in all 82 games for Dallas in 2009-10.

At the conclusion of the regular season, Benn was assigned to Texas for the playoffs and has proved to be the AHL Stars’ offensive catalyst en route to a berth in the Calder Cup Finals. The 20-year-old Benn enters Game 2 of the Finals leading all AHL postseason scorers with 14 goals and 24 points in 19 games for Texas, including a team-high four game-winning tallies.

Prior to turning pro, Benn amassed 79 goals and 147 points over a two-year junior career with Kelowna (WHL), leading the team in goal-scoring each of his two seasons with the Rockets.
