Utica re-signs Negrin

Utica Comets Director of Hockey Operations Pat Conacher has announced that the club has re-signed defenseman John Negrin to an American Hockey League contract for the 2015-16 season.


Negrin, 26, spent the 2014-15 season with the Comets where he recorded three assists and 12 penalty minutes in 35 games.
Prior to joining the Comets for the 2013-14 season where he played in 16 games, Negrin split the 2012-13 season with the Chicago Wolves and Lake Erie Monsters as well as the Kalamazoo Wings of the ECHL. Between his two AHL stops, Negrin registered five points in 18 games (2-3-5) while he collected another nine points (two goals, seven assists) in 44 ECHL contests.
The 6’2”, 202-pound native of Vancouver, British Columbia has appeared in 194 AHL games with the Abbotsford Heat, St. John’s IceCaps, Wolves, Monsters, and Comets. Over his five professional seasons he has compiled 34 AHL points (7-27-34).
In the 2007 National Hockey League Entry Draft, Negrin was selected by the Calgary Flames in the third round (70th overall). He appeared in three NHL games with the Flames and registered an assist during the 2008-09 season.
