Chicago’s 2-1 overtime win over Milwaukee at Allstate Arena last Saturday snapped a streak of three straight home-opener losses for the Wolves… The win also marked the first time in team history that Chicago posted an overtime victory in its home opener… Jesse Schultz leads the Wolves with four points (1-3-4) through the first two games… Rookie goaltender Ondrej Pavelec recorded wins in each of his first two professional starts, stopping 43 of 46 total shots along the way.

The Griffins have started 3-0-0-0 for the third time in the last four seasons, but for the first time without having played a home game… Three players have recorded a point in all three games – Carl Corazzini (2-2-4), Mark Cullen (1-4-5), and Tom Galvin (0-3-3)… Grand Rapids’ 4-2 win at Manitoba on Oct. 11 was goaltender Jimmy Howard’s 50th win in a Griffins uniform (50-27-5), making him their third netminder to achieve the milestone since the franchise joined the AHL in 2001… Grand Rapids’ other goalies with at least 50 wins were Joey MacDonald (87 from 2002-06) and Marc Lamothe (54 from 2002-04).

Center Maxim Lapierre posted five points (2-3-5) and a plus-3 rating in two games last week for the Bulldogs… Lapierre leads the team overall with eight points (4-4-8) in three games this season… Sergei Kostitsyn tallied his first career AHL goal last Friday against Syracuse, and he now has five points (2-3-5) in three games… The Bulldogs welcome Hartford to Copps Coliseum on Saturday for the first time since Jan. 21, 2000… Hamilton and Hartford have clashed four times overall through the years, with each team winning two games.

Adrian Foster, who tallied one of Houston’s goals in Wednesday’s 3-2 loss to Rockford, is the only member of the Aeros with more than one goal (2-0-2) through the team’s first four games… The Aeros went 0-for-7 on the power play in the loss, dropping them to 1-for-28 (3.6%) in man-advantage situations on the season… Houston visits the AT&T Center in San Antonio for a match-up with the Rampage on Friday, the first of three straight games for the Aeros against their in-state rivals.

Marty Sertich extended his point-scoring streak to four games (4-2-6) with a two-goal night in Wednesday’s 6-2 win at Lake Erie… Toby Petersen picked up a goal and two assists in that same game and now has points in four of five contests (2-6-8)… Petersen’s four goals and eight points are both tied for the league lead… The Stars, who went 9-1-0-0 against Milwaukee in the 2006-07 season, open a two-game weekend set with the Admirals on Friday in Wisconsin.

The Monsters received their first penalty shot in franchise history on Wednesday, which Eric Healey converted on Iowa goaltender Philippe Sauve in the first period… Lake Erie has allowed six goals in four of its six games thus far and has yet to allow fewer than three in a game… After playing five of their first six contests at Quicken Loans Arena, the Monsters begin a four-game road stretch with a tilt this Saturday evening at Syracuse.

Manitoba swept its two-game home set against Rochester this week, winning a tight 1-0 contest on Tuesday and then an easier 7-1 game on Wednesday… The Moose and Americans will square off for the third straight game on Friday, this time in New York… Jozef Balej, who posted a goal and an assist in Wednesday’s game, has recorded a point in three of four games thus far (1-3-4)… The Moose’s 4-for-7 showing on the power play Wednesday bumped their overall proficiency to 24.0% (6-for-25), fifth-best in the league.

Defenseman Janne Niskala, in his first North American pro season, has recorded two goals in the team’s first three games (2-1-3) and is the only member of the Admirals with more than one tally to this point… Rich Peverley leads Milwaukee with four points (0-4-4) and he has garnered at least one point in all three games… Milwaukee is in the midst of a stretch where they alternate home and road games for their first nine contests of the season, including a home-and-home this weekend against Iowa.

Goaltender Marek Schwarz has started his second pro campaign with a 2-0-0 record and a 1.50 GAA… Schwarz has stopped 53 of 56 shots in his first two games… Mike Glumac posted an assist on all three of the Rivermen’s goals in last Saturday’s 3-1 win at Houston, and he is tied for the team lead with four points overall (0-4-4)… Peoria’s penalty kill has started the season by turning down all 24 power play chances against through the team’s first four contests.

Flames rookie center Dan Ryder has points in each of his first three professional games (1-3-4)… Defenseman Tim Hambly, whose four points (2-2-4) are tied with Ryder for the team lead, scored both goals in Quad City’s 4-2 loss at Milwaukee last Friday; Hambly scored three goals all of last season with Omaha (3-15-18)… The Flames will play their first game against a non-divisional opponent on Sunday afternoon when they travel to take on Grand Rapids at Van Andel Arena.

Rochester hosts Manitoba on Friday after dropping a pair of games to them this week in Canada… The Amerks have now lost six straight games to the Moose dating back to last season and have been outscored 28-10 over that time…Rochester’s last win in the series came on Dec. 6, 2006, a 3-2 triumph in Winnipeg… Clarke MacArthur, the Americans’ co-captain, leads the team with six points (1-5-7) on the season.

Since dropping their season-opener to Quad City on Oct. 6, the IceHogs have reeled off three straight wins… Colin Fraser, in his third year with the Chicago Blackhawks’ AHL affiliate, has scored two goals in each of his last two games and is tied for the team lead with five points (4-1-5)… Goaltender Wade Flaherty has won 11 straight AHL games dating back to last season, when he played for Manitoba… Flaherty’s last loss came on Dec. 30, 2006 against Syracuse, a 5-4 overtime final.

Winger Bill Thomas, who scored eight goals in 24 games (8-6-14) for the parent Phoenix Coyotes in 2006-07, leads the Rampage this season with four points (2-2-4), including a game-winning goal… After hosing Houston at the AT&T Center this Friday to conclude a season-opening four-game homestand, the Rampage will embark on a stretch that will see them play 14 of their next 17 games on the road… Against the Aeros last season, San Antonio was 6-5-0-1 overall and 4-2-0-0 at home.

Rookie center Derick Brassard has recorded a point in each of his first four games this season (3-4-7), including a goal in three of the four… Brassard’s seven points are tied with Philadelphia’s Jonathan Matsumoto for most among AHL rookies… The Crunch went 5-for-9 (55.5%) on the power play in two games last weekend, and overall they are third in the league with a 28.6% conversion rate (6 of 21)… Syracuse has scored three shorthanded goals this season, tops in the AHL.

Marlies defenseman Derrick Walser notched five points (2-3-5) in last weekend’s home-and-home sweep of Lake Erie, including two power play tallies… Forward David Ling is second on the Marlies with five points (0-5-5)… Ling led the AHL’s St. John’s Maple Leafs with 88 points (28-60-88) in 2004-05 and played the next two seasons in Russia… Toronto’s power play is clicking at 33.3% (5-for-15), which is tops in the AHL among teams that have played at least three games… At 3-0-0-0, the third-year Marlies are off to their best start since joining the league.
