Wolves sign defenseman Rivers

The Chicago Wolves announced Monday that they have signed 11-year National Hockey League veteran defenseman Jamie Rivers.

The Ottawa native has collected 17 goals, 49 assists, 66 points and 385 penalty minutes in 454 career NHL games with the St. Louis Blues, New York Islanders, Ottawa Senators, Boston Bruins, Florida Panthers, Detroit Red Wings and Phoenix Coyotes.

Rivers, 33, has played in two AHL All-Star Games (1996, 1997) and was a Second Team AHL All-Star in 1997. He has notched 32 goals and 131 assists for 163 points, along with 355 PIM, in 270 career AHL contests with the Worcester IceCats, San Antonio Rampage, Grand Rapids Griffins, Hershey Bears and Peoria Rivermen.

Last season, Rivers attended training camp with the Montreal Canadiens and later skated in 18 games for Moscow Spartak of the Russian Super League.
