AHL announces suspensions

The American Hockey League has announced the following suspensions:

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. … The American Hockey League today announced the following suspensions:

Iowa Wild goaltender Niklas Svedberg has been suspended for one (1) game as a consequence of a high-sticking incident in a game vs. Manitoba on Mar. 11.

Svedberg was suspended under the provisions of AHL Rule 21.1 after being assessed a match penalty. He will miss Iowa’s game tonight (Mar. 13) at Rockford.

Rochester Americans forward Justin Bailey has been suspended for one (1) game as a consequence of an illegal check to the head of an opponent in a game vs. Syracuse on Mar. 11.

Bailey was suspended under the provisions of AHL Rule 28.1 (supplementary discipline). He will miss Rochester’s game Thursday (Mar. 15) at Bridgeport.

Syracuse Crunch defenseman Ben Thomas has been suspended for one (1) game as a consequence of his actions in a game at Rochester on Mar. 11.

A game misconduct for boarding was added to Thomas’s record under the provisions of AHL Rule 28.1 (supplementary discipline); as a result, Thomas received an automatic one-game suspension under the provisions of AHL Rule 23.6 for accumulating his second game misconduct in the “physical fouls” category this season. He will miss Syracuse’s game Wednesday (Mar. 14) at Binghamton.
