AHL Quick Hits: Moose continue road swing in Hamilton

In Tuesday’s action, Hugh Jessiman tallied his first career hat trick to lead Milwaukee over Quad City, 4-0… T.J. Trevelyan scored a pair of goals in Iowa’s 4-3 win over Rockford… On Monday, David Spina registered three points (2-1-3) as San Antonio dropped Toronto, 5-3… Goaltender Devan Dubnyk made 33 saves on 34 shots to help Springfield over Lowell, 3-1… Defenseman Andrew Archer tallied the overtime winner as Rockford edged Grand Rapds, 2-1.

LOOKING AHEAD:
Fourth place in the East Division is on the line Wednesday when Philadelphia (24-18-1-1) brings its four-game winning streak to the Broome County Arena to take on Binghamton (22-13-3-3)…The Phantoms have won three of four head-to-head clashes thus far, including a pair of overtime decisions… Reigning Reebok/AHL player of the week Jared Ross has racked up nine points (6-3-9) in the Phantoms’ four-game winning streak and shows a goal in all four contests… Rookie Patrick Maroon boasts a team-high four goals and seven points in four games against Binghamton this season… AHL All-Star Danny Syvret leads all AHL defensemen with 35 assists and 41 points for the Phantoms… Binghamton is playing the finale of an eight-game homestand (4-3-0-0)… Ryan Shannon (0-5-5) and Matt Carkner (2-1-3) are both riding three-game scoring streaks, and captain Denis Hamel has netted a goal in four of his last five contests (5-3-8)… The Senators have the AHL’s top-ranked power play at 23.9 percent; Philadelphia has netted nine shorthanded goals, tied for third-most in the league.

Manitoba continues a five-game road trip in Hamilton on Wednesday, the teams’ first meeting since the Bulldogs took a pair of wins over the Moose in Winnipeg on the season’s opening weekend… The Moose enter on a three-game winning streak and have won seven of eight (7-1-0-0) to reclaim first place in the North Division with 60 points for the campaign (29-13-0-2)… AHL All-Star Cory Schneider (15-2-0) leads all AHL goaltenders in goals-against average (1.53) and save percentage (.941), but one of his two losses on the season came to Hamilton on Oct. 10… Michael Grabner has racked up nine goals in his last seven games for the Moose, and Mark Cullen shows a three-game scoring streak (0-5-5)… Eight different Bulldogs netted goals in their two-game sweep of Manitoba on Oct. 10-11, with rookie David Desharnais posting a team-high three points (1-2-3)… AHL All-Star defenseman Yannick Weber has registered four points (1-3-4) in his last two games for Hamilton… The Bulldogs are averaging 3.60 goals per game, second-most in the league… Hamilton is tied for the league lead with 10 shorthanded goals, and Manitoba is the only AHL team yet to surrender one.

Rochester hosts Syracuse for an intra-state battle in the AHL’s only action on Thursday, a game that can be heard live on the NHL Home Ice channel (XM 204, Sirius 208) on XM Radio and XM Canada… The Americans have won two straight against the Crunch, both at home, after dropping the first three meetings of the season… Michal Repik (2-2-4), Janis Sprukts (1-3-4), and Stefan Meyer (1-2-3) have led the Amerks’ offense in the season series… Sprukts registered consecutive four-point efforts (4-4-8) as Rochester took victories in Manchester and Providence last weekend… AHL All-Star goaltender Mike Brodeur ranks second overall in save percentage (.933) and third in goals-against average (2.07) in 17 appearances for the Amerks (12-4-1)… The Crunch are coming off a 6-3 win over Hamilton on Monday… Steve Kelly scored twice in that tilt and has five goals in his last four games (5-0-5)… Derek MacKenzie is riding a five-game scoring streak (1-4-5) for Syracuse, while Mike York has a point in four straight (0-4-4) and six of his last seven outings (1-6-7).
