Hershey takes a 2-1 series lead into Game 4 of the Atlantic Division Finals tonight in Wilkes-Barre after Saturday’s convincing 5-2 win over the Penguins… Chris Bourque (3-2-5) scored twice and Chandler Stephenson (0-4-4) recorded three assists in a chippy Game 3, snapping the Bears’ 10-game, nine-year losing streak in postseason games at Mohegan Sun Arena… Bourque’s two goals give him 100 career playoff points, the seventh AHL player ever to reach that mark… Justin Peters (5-2, 1.17, .955) extended his personal shutout streak to 112:10 and wound up stopping 22 of 24 shots, allowing two goals or fewer for the sixth time in his seven starts this postseason… Dustin Gazley (1-2-3), Jakub Vrana (3-4-7) and Liam O’Brien (1-1-2) also scored for the Bears on Saturday… Niclas Andersen (1-0-1) and Jake Guentzel (4-6-10) scored for the Penguins; Guentzel is tied with Toronto’s Connor Carrick for the AHL playoff scoring lead… Tristan Jarry made his AHL playoff debut in Game 3, stopping all five shots he faced in 14:48 of work in relief of Casey DeSmith (4-2, 2.52, .923)… This is the third consecutive time Hershey has owned a 2-1 lead in a best-of-seven playoff series; the Bears lost to Hartford in six in 2015, and lost to Charlotte in six in 2011.

In Stanley Cup Playoff action yesterday, Ben Bishop made 28 saves as Tampa Bay eliminated the New York Islanders with a 4-0 win in Game 5 of their Eastern Conference second-round series.

At the IIHF World Championships in Russia yesterday, Michael Matheson, who skated in 54 AHL games with Portland this season, tallied a goal and two assists to help Canada to a 7-1 win over Hungary; the Hungarians are being coached by 1993-94 AHL MVP Rich ChernomazAndreas Martinsen, who played 10 games in the AHL with San Antonio this season, scored in overtime to give Norway a 4-3 win over Switzerland.
