Berube named head coach of Chicago Wolves

The St. Louis Blues’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Chicago Wolves, announced they have named Craig Berube as head coach.

 

Berube, 50, has coached in 13 seasons since retiring from professional hockey following the 2003-04 season. Most recently, he served two seasons as the head coach for the Philadelphia Flyers (2013-15), accumulating a 75-58-28 regular-season record.

 

Prior to his stint as Flyers head coach, the Calahoo, Alta., native spent six seasons as an assistant coach for the club (2006-07, 2008-13) as well as two seasons as an assistant with their AHL affiliate, the Philadelphia Phantoms. Berube also served as the Phantoms’ head coach in two campaigns, including 2007-08, when he led the team to a 46-27-7 regular season record, and was an assistant coach when Philadelphia won the Calder Cup in 2004-05.

 

During his playing career, Berube appeared in 17 NHL seasons including stints with Philadelphia, Toronto, Calgary, Washington and the New York Islanders. He dressed in 1,054 career regular season games, recording 159 points (61 goals, 98 assists) and 3,149 penalty minutes – the seventh-most in NHL history. Berube also played in the AHL with Hershey and Philadelphia.
