SPRINGFIELD, Mass. … The American Hockey League announced today that Hartford Wolf Pack right wing Nicklas Jensen has been selected as the CCM/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Mar. 20, 2016.
Jensen scored four goals and added three assists for seven points while registering a plus-5 rating in three games last week, helping Hartford close in on a playoff position in the Atlantic Division.
Jensen recorded the third hat trick of his AHL career on Friday night – including the tying goal in the third period and the game-winner in overtime – as the Wolf Pack rallied for a 4-3 victory over Portland. On Saturday, Jensen had a pair of assists in regulation and scored in the shootout as Hartford came from behind again and defeated Springfield, 4-3. And on Sunday evening, Jensen notched a goal and an assist in the Wolf Pack’s 3-0 win at Springfield, Hartford’s sixth win in a row.
Jensen, a first-round pick by Vancouver (29th overall) in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, has totaled 16 goals and 15 assists for 31 points in 56 AHL games between Hartford and Utica this season, including 19 points (12g, 7a) in 29 games since being acquired by the New York Rangers organization from the Canucks on Jan. 8. The 23-year-old native of Herning, Denmark, has tallied 51 goals and 37 assists for 88 points in 195 career AHL games with Hartford, Utica and Chicago, as well as three goals and three assists in 24 National Hockey League contests with Vancouver.
In recognition of his achievement, Jensen will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Wolf Pack home game.
