Leafs assign Bernier to Marlies for conditioning

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced today that the club has assigned goaltender Jonathan Bernier to the American Hockey League’s Toronto Marlies on a conditioning loan.

Bernier has appeared in nine games with the Maple Leafs this season, posting a 3.28 goals-against average and an .888 save percentage with a record of 0-8-1 record. In 184 career NHL games, Bernier owns a 76-75-21 record with a 2.66 GAA and a .915 save percentage.

Bernier spent his first two professional seasons in the AHL, skating for the Manchester Monarchs. In 2009-10, he captured the Aldege "Baz" Bastien Memorial Award as the league’s outstanding goaltender, going 30-21-6 with a 2.03 GAA, a .936 save percentage and nine shutouts. He also backstopped Manchester to the Eastern Conference Finals that spring.

In 115 career AHL appearances, Bernier posted a record of 54-46-11 with a 2.19 GAA, a .927 save percentage and 14 shutouts.
