Moose double up Rampage, capture eighth straight win


MANITOBA 4, SAN ANTONIO 2

Manitoba staked itself to a 3-1 lead held on at the end for a 4-2 win over visiting San Antonio on Thursday in front of 8,355 fans at the MTS Centre.

Maxime Fortunus scored the game-winning goal in the third period, and goaltender Drew MacIntyre made 32 saves for the victory. The Moose extended their season-high winning streak to eight games.

Jannik Hansen factored into all four Moose goals on the night, scoring one and adding three assists. Brad Moran posted a goal and two assists, and Mike Brown notched an empty-net goal in the game’s closing minute.

MacIntyre, a 2008 AHL All-Star who made his first start since Mar. 8, improved his season record to 23-16-2.

Joey Tenute, also a 2008 AHL All-Star, initially gave the Rampage a 1-0 lead at 10:54 of the opening stanza. San Antonio captain Bryan Helmer netted a power play goal late in the third, which at the time cut Manitoba’s lead to 3-2.

The Rampage finished 2-4-0-0 on a six-game road trip and will close the season by playing eight of 12 at home.

With the win, Manitoba pulled within five points of first-place Toronto in the North Division.


ROCHESTER 5, LAKE ERIE 4 (OT)
Rochester rallied for a pair of third-period goals, and David Brine lit the lamp at 2:55 of overtime to give the Amerks a 5-4 road win over Lake Erie at the Quicken Loans Arena.

Marc-Andre Gragnani and Rob Globke scored goals in the opening stanza, staking Rochester to a 2-0 advantage.

But the Monsters came back with four tallies in the second period to take a 4-2 lead. Chris Stewart, Dan DaSilva, Wyatt Smith, and Rob Drummond lit the lamp for Lake Erie.

Rochester forward Tommy Goebel, making his professional debut, scored at 2:57 of the third to pull the Amerks witin a goal. Tanner Glass netted the equalizer at 14:55.

Americans goaltender Adam Dennis stopped 29 of 33 shots in the win, which snapped Rochester’s four-game winless skid (0-2-2-0).


HOUSTON 1, CHICAGO 0
Houston goaltender Anton Khudobin made 26 saves for his first career AHL shutout as the Aeros blanked visiting Chicago, 1-0, at the Toyota Center.

Peter Olvecky notched the game’s only goal on the power play at 11:08 of the second period.

The Wolves, who entered the game averaging a league-high 3.79 goals per game, were shutout for the first time since Jan. 16.

Chicago has also lost three straight games in regulation for the first time since suffering a four-game skid from Dec. 1-8.
