Radulov, Brookbank lead Admirals to 8-1 win

Led by Alexander Radulov’s six-point performance, the Milwaukee Admirals rolled to an 8-1 win over the host Grand Rapids Griffins in a Tuesday matinee at Van Andel Arena.

Sheldon Brookbank scored two goals and added an assist, Cal O’Reilly had a goal and three assists and Kevin Klein scored twice for the Admirals, who won their third in a row while sending the Griffins to their fifth straight defeat.

Radulov opened the scoring 15:50 into the game with his fourth goal of the season, then added five assists, setting Admirals AHL franchise records for assists and points in a game.

The 15th overall pick in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, Radulov has 16 points (four goals, 12 assists) in seven games for Milwaukee this season.

Ville Koistinen had a goal and an assist and Rich Peverley also scored for the Admirals, who beat Stefan Liv for four goals on 25 shots in two periods before lighting the lamp four times on six shots against Jimmy Howard in the third.

Karl Goehring made 25 saves in the win.

Attendance for the school-day matinee in Grand Rapids was 8,243.

Jason Krog extended his scoring streak to 15 games by registering two goals and an assist in the Wolves’ 8-2 win at Iowa.

Krog, who now has 32 points on the year, maintained his lead in the AHL scoring race at three over teammate Darren Haydar, who recorded three assists on Tuesday and also has a point in all 15 games this season.

Rookie Brett Sterling, who had four points (2g, 2a) on the night, moved into a tie for third in the league with 21 points.

Steve Martins also tallied a pair of goals and an assist while Michael Garnett improved his record in November to 4-0-0 with a 1.82 GAA and a .942 save percentage, helping Chicago move into a first-place tie with Omaha in the West Division.

Mike Green and Chris Conner scored the Iowa goals.


HAMILTON 5, OMAHA 0
Hamilton netminder Jaroslav Halak stopped all 20 shots he faced in the Bulldogs’ 5-0 win at home against West Division leader Omaha.

Halak has a perfect record in the month of November, winning his last four starts compiling a .981 save percentage and a 0.50 GAA while posting two shutouts.

Jonathan Ferland and Michael Lambert each tallied a goal and an assist for the Bulldogs while Mikhail Grabovski, Mathieu Aubin and Kyle Chipchura also found the back of the net.

Facing the Ak-Sar-Ben Knights for the second time in five days, Hamilton has now outscored Omaha 11-1 on the season and is above the .500 mark for the first time since Oct. 6.
