Two goals by Charles Linglet were just enough for Peoria on Tuesday to squeeze by San Antonio 4-3 in a shootout.
As the game entered the last five minutes of regulation it looked as though Peoria would cruise to a 3-1 victory. The Rampage had other ideas as Doug Doull and Layne Ulmer each scored in the last 3:41 of the game to knot the game at three and force the overtime period. The third period goal for Ulmer was his second of the game and 11th of the season.
Peoria was able to earn the full two points thanks to a 3-2 shootout victory and shootout goals by Mike Glumac, Linglet, and Jon DiSalvatore.
Linglet started off the scoring just 1:14 into the game. Peoria would maintain that advantage until early in the second period when Ulmer scored the first of his two goals. Linglet and Blake Evans took the lead back with a pair of second period goals, giving the Rivermen the two goal advantage they would have until San Antonio’s late game heroics.
Reinhard Divis made 28 saves on 31 shots to earn the victory for Peoria. San Antonio goaltender David LeNeveau stopped 35 of 38 shots in the losing effort.
Both teams will square off against eachother again on Friday night at the newly renamed AT&T Center in San Antonio.
CLEVELAND 3, MILWAUKEE 4
Darren Haydar scored his second goal of the game 44 seconds into overtime to give Milwaukee a 4-3 victory over Cleveland. Haydar’s overtime tally was his team leading 19th goal of the season. The Admirals have now won seven straight home games and trail the Houston Aeros by four points for the lead in the West division.
