Wednesday’s Boxscores

HARTFORD 3, PROVIDENCE 2
Greg Moore scored Hartford’s second shorthanded goal of the night with 4:58 left in regulation, breaking a 2-2 tie and propelling the Wolf Pack to a 3-2 win over visiting Providence on Wednesday at the XL Center.

Patrick Rissmiller (1-1-2) and Brodie Dupont (0-2-2) each chipped in multiple points for the Wolf Pack, who moved to 4-0-0-1 in their last five contests.

After a scoreless first period, Rissmiller netted a shorthanded marker at 2:47 of the second to put Hartford up 1-0, and David Urquhart extended the lead to 2-0 with a power play tally at 7:19.

The Bruins stormed back with a pair of man advantage goals of their own. Defenseman Jeff Penner scored at 13:51 of the middle stanza, and Peter Schaefer potted the equalizer 10:14 into the third.

That set the stage for Moore’s game-winner, which was the second shorthanded tally of the night for a Hartford club that entered the contest with just one on the season.

Wolf Pack goaltender Miika Wiikman earned the victory with 26 saves on 28 shots. Hartford now sits alone in third place in the Atlantic Division at 14-11-1-3 (32 points).

But the Senators received goals from Danny Bois and Josh Hennessy in the second period to tie it, and neither side scored in the final frame.
