Wolves sign defenseman Wisniewski

The Chicago Wolves announced Sunday that the club has signed veteran defenseman James Wisniewski to an AHL contract.

An 11-year veteran of the NHL, the 32-year-old Wisniewski has spent time with the Anaheim Ducks, Carolina Hurricanes, Chicago Blackhawks, Columbus Blue Jackets, Montreal Canadiens and New York Islanders.

In 552 NHL games, he has registered 53 goals and 221 assists for 274 points and logged 459 penalty minutes. Wisniewski also appeared in 24 Stanley Cup Playoff games and tallied a goal and six assist for seven points.

Wisniewski began the 2016-17 for Vladivostok in the Kontinental Hockey League, collecting one goal and three assists in 16 games.

A 2002 draft choice by the Blackhawks, Wisniewski has played 139 games in the American Hockey League with Norfolk and Rockford, totaling 17 goals and 53 assists for 70 points.
