SPRINGFIELD, Mass. … The American Hockey League announced today that Bakersfield Condors forward Joe Gambardella has been selected as the CCM/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending January 27, 2019.

Gambardella registered four goals – including two game-winners – and six points in four contests last week to help the Condors extend their winning streak to eight games.

Last Monday, Gambardella scored the overtime winner to lift Bakersfield to a 6-5 victory at San Jose. He netted the game-winning goal again on Wednesday and added an assist as the Condors defeated Colorado, 7-2, and he assisted on the tiebreaking score in Bakersfield’s 3-1 win at Tucson on Friday. Gambardella scored two more goals in another 3-1 win in Tucson on Saturday before traveling across the country to participate in the 2019 Lexus AHL All-Star Classic presented by MGM Springfield in Springfield, Mass.

A second-year pro from Staten Island, N.Y., Gambardella has 19 goals and 13 assists for 32 points in 35 games with the Condors this season. He also made his NHL debut on Dec. 31 and has appeared in four games with the parent Edmonton Oilers. Gambardella, who turned pro with Bakersfield in 2017 following his senior season at UMass-Lowell, has 33 goals and 21 assists in 91 career AHL contests.

In recognition of being named the CCM/AHL Player of the Week, Gambardella will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Condors home game.
