IceCaps re-sign four, including captain Jaffray

The St. John’s IceCaps announced today they have re-signed forwards Jason Jaffray, Blair Riley and Kyle MacKinnon and defenseman Jordan Hill to one-year, AHL contracts.

Jaffray, the IceCaps’ captain since 2011, played in all 76 games with St. John’s last season and led the team in assists (41) and points (59). He also collected 12 points in 20 playoff games.

The Olds, Alta., native has played in 566 career AHL games, with 181 goals and 270 assists for 451 points. He has also appeared in 95 postseason games in the AHL, tallying 31 goals and 37 assists for 68 points and reaching the Calder Cup Finals with Manitoba in 2009 and with St. John’s in 2014.

An orginal IceCap, Jaffray has played in three AHL All-Star Classics, including the 2014 event in St. John’s when he was selected to captain the AHL All-Star squad.

Jaffray has also played 49 games in the NHL, collecting four goals and seven assists for 11 points.

Riley played in 71 games with the IceCaps last season, collecting seven goals and 14 assists for 21 points along with a plus-14 rating and 133 penalty minutes. The Chase, B.C., native added three goals and three assists in 21 playoff games.

Riley has played in 215 career AHL games, recording 22 goals and 28 assists for 50 points.

MacKinnon appeared in 71 games for the IceCaps last season, registering 12 goals and 27 assists for a career-high 39 points, along with a plus-17 rating. He also had two goals and three assists in 21 Calder Cup Playoff matches.

The Walnut, Calif., native has played in 213 career AHL games, with 40 goals and 51 assists for 91 points.

Hill played in 68 games for the IceCaps last season, recording 12 assists. He scored two goals and added one assist in 18 playoff games.

The Sarnia, Ont., native has played in 161 career AHL games, totaling seven goals and 22 assists for 29 points.
