Islanders sign veteran Wotton

The New York Islanders, NHL parent club of the AHL’s Bridgeport Sound Tigers, have signed veteran defenseman Mark Wotton to a two-year contract.

Wotton helped the Hershey Bears to the Calder Cup championship last season. He registered seven goals and 19 assists for 26 points and had 58 penalty minutes in 69 regular-season games with the Bears. Wotton added four assists and was a plus-3 in 14 playoff games with Hershey.

Wotton has compiled 65 goals and 190 assists for 255 points in 528 career AHL games with Hershey, Utah and Syracuse.

The native of Foxwarren, Man., also has three goals and six assists in 43 NHL contests with Vancouver and Dallas.
