Marlies’ Brennan named Player of the Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. … The American Hockey League announced today that Toronto Marlies defenseman T.J. Brennan has been selected as the CCM/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Oct. 6, 2013.

Brennan began the 2013-14 season with four goals, two assists and a plus-3 rating in two games to help the Marlies to a pair of victories.

Making his Toronto debut on Saturday afternoon, Brennan recorded his first career hat trick and assisted on the game-winning goal as the Marlies defeated defending Calder Cup champion Grand Rapids, 4-3 in overtime. Then on Sunday, Brennan tallied another goal and again earned an assist on the game-winning tally as Toronto defeated Lake Erie, 5-1.

Brennan recorded 35 points in 36 AHL games with Rochester last season before spending the rest of the season in the National Hockey League, where he totaled three goals and seven assists for 10 points in 29 games between Buffalo and Florida. A 24-year-old native of Willingboro, N.J., Brennan has recorded 55 goals and 78 assists for 133 points in 227 career AHL games, as well as four goals and seven assists in 40 contests in the NHL. He was a second-round draft pick (31st overall) by Buffalo in 2007.

In recognition of his achievement, Brennan will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Marlies home game.
