Griffins, Liv shut out Rivermen to win sixth straight

Stefan Liv stopped all 28 shots he faced from the Rivermen as Grand Rapids shut out Peoria by a score of 3-0 at Van Andel Arena, marking the third straight game the Griffins have shut out opponents at home.

Liv has won his last five starts and has posted two shutouts in that span for the Griffins, who are the league’s hottest team, winning six straight games.

Matt Ellis had a pair of goals and Darryl Bootland also tallied for Grand Rapids, who improved its record to 19-15-4-2 and 44 points, three points behind second place Manitoba and five points shy of North Division leading Rochester.


HARTFORD 4, ALBANY 3 (SO)
Brandon Dubinsky scored a pair of goals and Nigel Dawes capped a Hartford comeback by scoring the lone goal in the shootout as the Wolf Pack defeated the Albany River Rats 4-3 at the Times Union Center.

After falling behind 3-0, a short-handed goal from Brad Isbister got Hartford on the board while netminder Al Montoya stopped 24 of 27 shots and all five River Rats in the shootout to give the Wolf Pack its third straight win.

Dave Gove, Ryan Bayda and Pat Dwyer all scored while Keith Aucoin added two assists for Albany in the loss.


BRIDGEPORT 2, PHILADELPHIA 1 (SO)
Wade Dubielewicz stopped 33 of 34 shots and three of four Phantoms players in a shootout as the Sound Tigers edged Philadelphia 2-1 at the Arena at Harbor Yard.

Petteri Nokelainen scored in regulation for Bridgeport while Peter Ferraro, Jeff Tambellini and Blake Comeau registered goals in the shootout to give the Sound Tigers their second straight win.

Darren Reid scored for his fourth game in-a-row and netminder Scott Munroe made 39 saves for the Phantoms in the loss.


OMAHA 5, TORONTO 2
Omaha scored four unanswered goals, including two from David Van der Gulik, as the Knights defeated the Toronto Marlies at home by a score of 5-2.

Curtis McElhinney, who was recently named to the Canadian All-Star Team in the 2007 Rbk Hockey AHL All-Star Classic, needed only 21 saves to secure the win for the Knights, who ended a three-game losing skid at home.

Ryan Donally, Warren Peters and Andrei Taratukhin, who also added an assist and was a plus-3, provided the other tallies on the night for Omaha.

Defenseman Chris Harrington and Jay Harrison tallied power-play goals in a losing effort for Toronto.


MILWAUKEE 3, SAN ANTONIO 2
Defensemen Sheldon Brookbank scored a goal and added two assists as Milwaukee defeated the Rampage in the first of a two game set on the week at San Antonio, by a score of 3-2.

Jason Guerriero and Ramzi Abid tallied a goal and an assist each as netminder Karl Goehring made 29 saves to improve his record to 13-10-4 on the year.

Donald MacLean and Pascal Rheaume provided the tallies for San Antonio, who after a four game winning streak, have dropped its last two games.
