Capitals re-sign Sgarbossa to two-year deal

The Washington Capitals have signed center Mike Sgarbossa to a two-year, two-way contract.

Sgarbossa set career highs with 30 goals, 35 assists and 65 points in 75 games with the AHL’s Hershey Bears in 2018-19, leading the team in scoring.

In 387 AHL games over seven pro seasons with Hershey, Manitoba, Springfield, San Diego, Norfolk and Lake Erie, Sgarbossa has totaled 102 goals and 162 assists for 264 points. He was an AHL All-Star as a rookie in 2013.

A native of Campbellville, Ont., Sgarbossa has also played 48 games in the NHL with Florida, Anaheim and Colorado, totaling two goals and eight assists for 10 points.
